Hair Update!

Hello my dears,

It has been some time since last I blogged but in my defense I have been exceptionally busy. With that being said i've sort of fallen off the beaten track of my hair journey. I am back and reinvigorated. Keeping a blog really helped me stay on tract and on regimen. I have found an entire line of products that work for me in all the ways I need so my 'staple products' have changed to the following:

  • ORS HaiRepair Nourishing Conditioner
  • ORS HaiRepair Invigorating Shampoo
  • ORS HaiRepair Anti-Breakage Creme
  • Sunny Isle Jamaican Black Castor Oil Rosemary
  • Virgin Coconut Oil
  • Olive Oil
  • Eucalyptus Oil
  • Almond Oil
This is all that make up my hair care regimen. I have finally found products that really and truly work for my hair. You might be wondering , well what do you moisturize and seal with? Well, I mix a small amount of the conditioner in a bottle with twice as much water and a bit of almond oil. Vwala! you've got yourself the most moisturizing thing ever. I want to add back in the rose water to my mix I have simply ran out and have been too lazy to go to the specialty store to buy it. I'm also trying to come up with new and fun protective styles. I've put some pictures below of my most recent hair. Enjoy!

xoxo,
Zayna

The Miracles of Rose Water

Hello My Dears,

Welcome to a new year and, as the old saying goes, a new start! It's been quiet a while since I last blogged but MUCH has gone on in a very short period of time. Thankfully things have died down now. I am currently on winter holiday from college, which I must say I am enjoying so with the spare time that I now have I went out looking for new ways to moisturize my hair. Houston has the most sparatic weather during the winter months but as of recent the air has become very cold and dry and my hair has become really dry and brittle because of it. I don't like putting a lot of product in my hair because it gets weighed down and my scalp becomes easily irritated, even if I'm only using natural oils. While doing some research I came across rose water.Rose water is distilled from the petals of roses and is a byproduct of the rose oil produced during the distillation process. It can be used to flavor food, and as a component of cosmetic and medical mixtures. Rose water is a natural moisturizer as it acts as an emollient when mixed with essential oils such as vitamin E or jojoba oil.

I decided to add the rose water to my Sukin conditioner mix after shampooing with a sulfate shampoo. I did a Coffee rinse (as a substitute for my black tea rinses) and applied the mixture over the rinse; after about 45 minuets I rinsed it all out. I air dried for about twenty minuets. It usually takes longer but my hair became fluffy in seemingly no I time. I started touching my hair and the softness was ridiculous, my new growth was singing me praises, it was just so soft! My detangled hair was bouncy but most importantly I could feel the moisture had gone deep into the follicles of my hair. Over all I am extremely pleased with the results and I will add the rose water as a permanent staple in my regimen.
Until Next Time,
Zayna
